Mindscape: Southnord’s Inaugural Collection Exhibition
Southnord is pleased to announce its inaugural collection exhibition, Mindscape, which offers up a selection of works from the ever-growing Southnord Art Collection. Opening on 5 February 2025, this exhibition features the works of 11 artists who have each dealt with the introspective human form in different techniques and materials.
Southnord is continuously investing in building up an art collection that reflects the contemporary issues occupying Afro-diasporic artists situated in the Nordics. The works in Mindscape portray human figures in different forms and techniques, most of them in repose or deep contemplation. Artists included are Alexander Das Neves Lehmann, Damien Ajavon, Diana Agunbiade-Kolawole, Eric Magassa, Frida Orupabo, Lidiya Solomon, Muriel Makhathini, Rafiki, Senay Berhe, Uwa Iduozee and Yemisi Wilson.
“The selection of works in Mindscape are both portraiture and an imaging of interiority where one can only imagine the inner lives of the subjects. It is a tantalising exercise to explore our inner landscapes together with different kinds of art practitioners,” says Marcia Harvey Isaksson, the curator of the exhibtion.
During the exhibition period, Southnord will invite artists, poets, writers, thinkers, performers and other creatives from across the Nordic region to enter into dialogue with the artworks and to activate the space. Each activation will offer a fresh perspective on the underlying themes, enriching and expanding a collective musing on our inner lives.
Opening: 5 February 2025 at 18:00
Venue: Southnord, Katarina Bangata 40, 116 39 Stockholm.
