Southnord x Hobo Hotel
In celebration of the Stockholm Jazz Festival, Southnord offers up a three-evening jam session between the South African-born Swedish-based artists Lefifi Tladi and Mzwakhe Hlatshwayo and the Ingoma Project. They will meet in three unrehearsed sessions where music, poetry and painting will be delivered in an organic and improvised stream of consciousness. Get ready for a mesmerising experience! The sessions are free but space is limited, so arrive early to secure your spot.

Lefifi Tladi
Lefifi Tladi is an artist, poet and jazz musician born in 1949 in Pretoria, South Africa. Tladi was a strong supporter of the Black Consciousness Movement during the 1970s and was forced into exile, ending up in Sweden. Here he studied art at the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art and has lived and worked in Sweden since then.
He has participated in several exhibitions both in Sweden and abroad. In 2021, Tladi was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the South African Literary Awards. This year, 2023, the Javett Art Centre in Pretoria began a five-year programme celebrating Tladi's life's work. Southnord honours him with an outdoor exhibition in the centre of Stockholm at Sergels torg open between 10 October and 6 November.

Mzwakhe Hlatshwayo
Mzwakhe Hlatshwayo has studied African classical music and jazz piano at the South African College of Music - University of Cape Town. His career began in the year 1996 as a young musician at the college studying and playing music with world renowned South African artists like, Dizu Plaatjies of Amampondo, Jimmy Dludlu, Moses 'Taiwa' Molelekwa, Selaelo Selota, Judith Sephuma, Sylvester Mazinyane, Tutu Puoane, Thsepo Mngoma and many more.
Mzwakhe has since moved to Sweden to pursue his career as an International Jazz artist. He is currently living and working as a full time music teacher and a live music promoter at the African Jazz Club in Stockholm. The 'INGOMA PROJECT' brings together different constellations of musicians.
