Alexandra das Neves Lehmann was the winner of the 2023 Southnord UP NEXT Open Call. UP NEXT is an annual exhibition showcasing young up-and-coming Afro-Nordic artists between the ages of 16-24 years. “Earthbound: A Visual Journey of Earth's Embrace” was an exhibition by Swedish-Mozambican analogue photographer Alexandra das Neves Lehmann (b. 2001). It explored the connection between humanity and the natural world, focusing on Earth as our constant companion through life; providing us care and comfort, while also symbolizing our ultimate destination and final home in death. Photography is the very core of Alexandra's craft, they find balance between working on self-initiated projects and commission-based work. They experiment with continuous personal documentations, such as a lifelong video capture of their mother, which goes in tandem with a photo journal chronicling their own life in Mozambique. Professionally, Alexandra is engaged in fashion photography and artist commissions. The exhibition was curated by up-and-coming Swedish-Zimbabwean creative Anton Isaksson (b. 2000).
