LECTURE: NO NIIN

Lecture by NO NIIN editors Elham Rahmati and Vidha Saumya. Subsequent conversation with Andrea Davis Kronlund.

Elham Rahmati is a visual artist and freelance curator based in Helsinki. She is the co-founder and co-editor of NO NIIN, an independent monthly online magazine in the borderland between art, criticism and love. In 2019 and 2020, she worked as a curator and producer for the Academy of Moving People & Images (AMPI), an independent film school in Helsinki. Prior to that, she worked as a curator at Third Space. Elham holds an MA in Visual Arts from Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and an MA in Visual Culture, Curating, & Contemporary Art from Aalto University. Vidha Saumya is an artist-poet. Her work revolves around notions of exile and utopia in her work, questioning normative aesthetics and socio-political ecologies. She is the co-founder and co-editor of NO NIIN Magazine and one of the founders of the Museum of Impossible Forms. Andrea Davis Kronlund is a Jamaican-born, US-bred photographer and visual artist. Her work explores the intersection of the personal, cultural, and political in black women’s hair. She is a founder and creative director of krullmag.com and has an extensive background in the creative and cultural industries, including running an art gallery. She’s shown at Brooklyn Museum, International Center of Photography, Bibliothéque Nationale Paris, National Library of Sweden, Kulturhuset and Arts Council of Sweden. She is currently an exhibitions producer at the National Museums for World Culture, Sweden.
