A Powerful Evening of Poetry, Prose, and Music at Bonniers Konsthall

Southnord is thrilled to present Mothers and Daughters, an evocative evening of poetry, prose, and music featuring a dialogue between Senegalese poet, composer, rapper, and artist T.I.E, and Congolese-Swedish writer and artist Kayo Mpoyi. The event is acollaboration with Bonniers Konsthall.

In this unique dialogue, T.I.E will create a soundscape using a collage of personal stories from Afro-European women about theirrelationships between mothers and daughters; andKayo Mpoyi will read excerpts from her novel, En övning i revolution (An Exercise in Revolution), a powerful exploration of memory, migration, community, and generational silences.

This event is presented in conjunction with Frida Orupabo’s solo exhibition, On Lies, Secrets, and Silence, currently on view at Bonniers Konsthall. Frida Orupabo, a Norwegian-Nigerian sociologist and artist, is known for her digital and physical collages that examine race, family, gender, sexuality, and identity, focusing on the Black female experience.

“This event continues our mission to create spaces where diverse narratives can be created and sharedin collaboration with other institutions," says Marcia Harvey Isaksson, founder of Southnord. "By bringing together T.I.E and Kayo Mpoyi, we look forward to an artistic exploration of the first and perhaps the most complex relationship human beings have –the one with their mother.”
